Kap Lung Ancient Trail begins at Hong Kong's highest
bus stop bythe Country Park on Route Twisk. This
winding path was a major commuting route in the
past, along which farmers travelled to and from
the Tsuen Wan Market. The first leg of the ancient
trail overlaps with Kap Lung Forest Trail, while
another section has two parallel stone paths built
in different eras with different styles. One of
them was built by the Country and Marine Parks
Authority within the last decade, the other one
was built by local villagers many decades ago the
ancient trail.
This route brings
you through plantations and hill streams inside Tai
Lam Country Park. Several sections are paved with
stones. They reflect villagers' ingenuity in using
natural materials that were readily available in
the wild. Treading this primitive path, you can relive
the simple life of old rural communities.
Lined with towering
old trees on both sides, attracting abundant of wild
animals and forest birds, the ancient trail is a
favorable breakaway.
