It is a 5km route that takes 2 hours to complete.
Starting at the front entrance of Dong Shan Fa Mun,
it winds up the hill and levels up a little at the
500m point. Here, you can enjoy a distant view of
Tei Tong Tsai where white chalets stand out in the
middle of sylvan forests. All of these are Buddhist
halls and religious retreats where reverent believers
practice Buddhism. Moving on, Tung Chung new town
gets closer and closer. Nei Lak Shan is a peak north
of Ngong Ping. Rising 751 metres, it is the seventh
highest peak in Hong Kong. With a tapering conical
peak and a full rounded middle section, it resembles
Maitreya in a seated pose.
Some sections of the country
trail cut through secondary forests. The diversity
of flora is very rich and you can see trees of
magnificent form and lush foliage. They are natural
treasures bestowed upon us. So when you enjoy the
benefit of this lovely green trail, spare a thought
for flora conservation.
