Wong Lung Hang Country Trail

The starting point of Wong Lung Hang Country Trail is at Sheung Tung Au. Sheung Tung refers to Sunset Peak and Yi Tung Shan. Though a relatively short hiking route, the starting point is set high up on the 690m uplands of Yi Tung Shan. The trail traces the north slope of Sunset Peak and makes a sharp descent to a valley. The complete circuit is treacherous, heavily shaded and matted with moss.

Wong Lung Hang is a waterway gathering more than 20 tributaries from the uplands of Lin Fa Shan, Sunset Peak and Yi Tung Shan. After heavy rain, muddy water gushes down the ravine like a dragon into the Tung Chung Bay. Hence giving its Chinese name.

Near the end section, the terrain tames a little to offer spectacular vistas. The famous Wong Lung Fall is just 500m to the east. Looking northwest, Chek Lap Kok International Airport is at sight.

By Wong Lung Hang Road, the relocated Chek Lap Kok Village with its ancient Tin Hau Temple welcome you. The latter was built in Dao Guang Year 3 of the Qing Dynasty (1822). The entire complex is all made of granite.
