Eastern Nature Trail Information

Leading from Quarry Bay to Tai Tam, Eastern Nature Trail features interpretation plates about the local flora and fauna, history and scenic spots. Follow Mount Parker Road uphill near the Urban Council Quarry Bay Complex. Many common urban birds dwell here.

A short distance up, the elegant red-brick house is a historic building that dates back to the early 20 th century. Originally named Woodside, it is also known as the red brick house. It was formerly the senior quarters of Tai koo Sugar Factory. After closure of the factory, Woodside was surrendered to the government in 1976.

Today, it is managed by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for nature education uses. A divert to the Quarry Bay Tree Walk brings you to 4 sets of outdoor stoves. These were built during WWII to prepare for the Japanese invasion. Returning to the Nature Walk, you come to Sir Cecil's Ride where the Japanese landing troops advanced towards Wong Nai Chung Gap.

Further up at the Quarry Gap, the scenic charm of Tai Tam Country Park unfolds before you. Make a descent from here and Tai Tam Reservoir comes into view. Get on to Wong Nai Chung Gap Road via Tai Tam Reservoir Road.
