Take a bus to Hiram's Highway and get off near Pak
Kong. To get to Tsiu Hang NatureTrail, walk in
the direction of the Lions Nature Education Centre.
Along theme and
erring trail, birds sing and insects twitter. At
the interpretation plates, there are recordings about
the flora species nearby. One of them is Oriental
Blechnum. This plant does not blossom and reproduce
with the help of tiny spores. Not far ahead, you can see a cross-section
of soil. It demonstrates the difference between topsoil,
humus layer and the mother soil. Nearby, you can
find some Wax Trees which juice will cause skin irritation
upon contact, so do not touch them.
Seen from this
vantage point, the saddle-shaped twin crests of Ma
On Shan are exhilarating. Further up, the scenery
changes into weathered rock, dressed by a rich variety
of flora. These boulders are victims of penetrating
tree roots. Back to the starting point of the trail,
a small wood bridge brings you to the last stop -
butterfly valley. Rich in host plants, these woodlands
support great butterfly diversity.
