Follow the Tai Tan Nature Trail direction sign from
Hoi Ha Village to get to Wan Tsai Peninsula. Along
the way you will pass an ancient lime kiln and
the fines sandy beach of Hoi Ha Wan.Take the path
along the coast and the nature trail's starting
point is at Lan Lo Au ahead. Look out for an interpretation
sign by the lime kiln which tells how local villagers
produced lime with oyster shells and coral skeletons
in the old days.
Wan Tsai Natural
Trail orbits aroundTai Leng Tun of Wan Tsai Peninsula.
An easy walk, it offers lovely seaviews of Hoi Ha
Wan, Nam Fung Wan, and Tap Mun in the distance. This
pleasant route presents the reforestation works in
Hong Kong and the plantation species involved. The
Wan Tsai Peninsula was once a borrow area, but was
painstakingly re-forested afterwards. It became the
Wan Tsai Extension of Sai Kung West Country Park
in 1996. There are good camping facilities for large
camping events.
Also in 1996, Hoi
Ha Wan was declared a marine park to preserve the
marine wildlife there. Lastly, there is a small pier
at the Nam Fung Wan that offers kaido service to
Wong Shek Pier on holidays.
