Start from the barbecue site by the Hok Tau Management
Centre. Walk along Hok Tau Road towards Lau Shui
Heung Reservoir. The reflection of Paper-bark trees
in the reservoir is memorable, while the natural
landscape around Lau Shui Heung Reservoir is so
attractive that it is sometimes known as the little
Guilin of Hong Kong. Follow the gentle path to
Kat Tsai Shan Au. It is then followed by a steep
slope uphill towards Cloudy Hill. The route is
physically demanding and visitors should proceed
according to their own ability. At the top of Cloudy Hill,
there are wonderful views to the south and southeast,
over Tai Po, Tolo Harbour and across to Ma On Shan
- so the climb is worth the extra effort. From
Cloudy Hill, a path winds down to the valley of
Sha Lo Tung with wonderful views on all sides.
The 78 km Wilson
Trail, heading from Stanley on Hong Kong Island to
Nam Chung in Sha Tau Kok, is divided into 10 stages.
If you are looking for grand landscape, the stage
that crosses Cloudy Hill is your choice. As you tame
the 400m summit, vistas gradually open up. Your gaze
reaches as far as Ma On Shan on the opposite side,
Pat Sin Leng in the northeast, and Hong Kong's highest
peak : Tai Mo Shan.
