This short walk starts at Mui Wo Ferry Pier, with its
regular ferry services. The route goes along the
final section of the LantauTrail, but in the opposite
direction. It passes the Mui Wo Sewage Treatment
Plant and over looks its operation. At Yuen Kok
Tau, there is a pleasant view of Hei Ling Chau
and Chi Ma Wan. After changing course at Lai Chi
Yuen you reach Pak Fu Tin Barbecue Area, with a
tranquil natural environment for families to enjoy,
especially in summer. You will see Pak Fu Tin Wild
Camp Site, just up from Pak Fu Tin Barbecue Area.
Walk straight ahead for half a kilometre, to reach
the Nam Shan Barbecue Area.
Fronted by Silvermine
Bay, Mui Wo is set beneath the foothills of Lin Fa
Shan in the west. With an ample supply of freshwater
from hill streams originating from the highlands,
it is a fertile coastal plain well suited for agriculture.
In the past, Mui Wo was the site of rural villages
like Luk Tei Tong, Tsoi Yuen, Chung Hau, Miu Wo Old
Village and Lung Mei. Today it is a thriving seaside
town with modern village houses and holiday homes.
Most of the fields are abandoned. Only a scattered
few are still worked by farmers.
