This pleasant trail starts at Shek Kong Camp (RouteTwisk),
goes along the vehicul araccess next to the catchwater
path, and then reaches Ho Pui via Tsing Tam Reservoir.
The trail is a pleasant level walk, shaded by tall
trees on both sides. You can enjoy the view of
the distant Pat Heung plain, and the tranquil environment
nearby adds to the outing pleasure. Pay attention
to occasional traffic, as some vehicles have access
to the road. After crossing Ho Pui and changing
course to another section of the catchwater path,
continue to follow the uphill footpath, where you
can see the distant Yuen Long and Pat Heung.
After walking downhill
to Ma On Kong Warden Post, you will reach the Tai
Lam Tunnel Interchange, where you can take buses
to Yuen Long and the urban areas. For many decades,
Pat Heung has been an important part of Hong Kong's
rural community. Irrigation reservoirs like Lower
Tsing Tam Reservoir are designed to supply irrigation
water to farmers in Pat Heung. To meet the increasing
demand for water, the government expanded the catchment
area of Tai Lam Chung Reservoir to take in hill streams
from Tai Mo Shan. Several small reservoirs were also
built to aid irrigation.
