Shui Hau to Shek Pik Reservoir Information

From Shui Hau go over the 1.5 - kilometer - long bridge, built by the British Army in 1985 and you will come - to the pleasant Lo Kei Wan Wild Camp Site. Walkingup from the campsite, and across aridge, you will see Tai A Chau and Siu A Chau. Walking northwest, past Shek Lam Chau, Tung Wan, you come to Shek Pik Reservoir. There is a platform on the east side of the dam allowing visitors to enjoy views of the reservoir and distant Lantau Peak. Away from the platform you will see a 24 metre - wide flood - discharge "bowl", seeming to float on the surface. You can best appreciate its use when the reservoir overflows, and water rumbles down into the bowl.

Tong Fuk Miu Wan and Shui Hau are U-shaped bays sheltered by hills on three sides. Sand and silt from hill streams settle in these calm indents to form a fertile alluvial plain. At the mouth of the river there is a broad mud flat that clearly shows the impact of sedimentation.
